VISIT BY SHEIKH DR. MOHAMMED AL-ISSAH

Visit to Ghana by General Secretary of Muslim World League Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issah. He visited the Ghana Muslim Mission- Islamic Senior High- Kumasi.

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

The Ghana Muslim Mission has a stronger passion for education. Ghana Muslim Mission believes that there could be no development without education. This is the reason why majority of its efforts are geared towards education.

Basic Education

The Mission has 115 basic schools across the country. These include kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High School.

Senior High School Education

The Mission has two Senior High Schools. These include Islamic Senior High School, Kumasi and Ghana Muslim Mission Senior High School, Beposo, Ashanti Region. Lands have been secured, duly, for the establishment of more Senior High Schools in the following areas; Asankrangwa and Sefwi Boako in the Western Region, Mankasim in the Central Region, Koforidua and Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region and Domeabra in the Greater Accra Region.

Tertiary Education University

The Mission has acquired 9.5 acres of land at Esreso in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti to establish a University. Esreso is one and half kilometer drive from Kumasi metropolis. The first block of the building is now under construction.The Ghana Muslim Mission University is intended to run the following course;


First Phase
  • Islamic theology and education
  • Linguistics (Arabic, English, French and Twi languages) with education and International Relations

Business programmes
  • Logistics and procurement
  • Business management
  • Human resource management

Second Phase
  • Nursing
  • Medicine
  • Engineering

Colleges of Education

The Mission would be admitting students into its first college of education next academic year, In Sha Allah. The college of education has been established at Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Northern Region and also at Beposo in the Sekyere Central Ditrict of Ashanti Region. This is to train more Muslims to teach in the numerous Islamic schools in the country.

Nursing College

The Mission is establishing a nursing training college at New Kokrompe, near Atebubu in the Brong- Ahafo Region. It has also built hospital at Beposo in the Ashanti Region but yet to be operational.

CAPACITY BUILDING

CAPACITY BUILDING

The Ghana Muslim Mission Youth organises seminars and conferences for its members to provide life skills and entrepreneural skills to help them become better persons.

TRAINING ACTIVITIES

The Mission embarks on the following training activities;

  • Imam’s workshop
  • Mentorship programs for Muslim Professionals
  • Workshop for branch, district, regional and national executive members
  • Workshop for leaders of the women, men and the youth wing’s
  • Pre-hajj training for prospective pilgrims

Weekend Arabic/Islamic studies for all Muslims in general in the following categories;

  • The Children
  • The Youth
  • The Adult ( Male and Female Category)

INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES

In order not to over rely on the individual members for financial assistance, Ghana Muslim Mission has recently developed some small scale businesses to generate income;
Asempa Bakeries

This venture produces bread to feed students in its Senior High Schools to generate funds to support some of its activities. The establishment of Ghana Muslim Mission Restaurant and Ghana Muslim Mission Education Charity (GMM E – CHARITY) are in the pipeline.
GMM Restaurant

The intention here is to provide food and drinks for sale to students in its Senior High Schools, its members and the general public to generate income.
GMM E-Charity

The objective of GMM-E Charity includes;
To provide financial assistance and support to brilliant but needy Muslim and non-Muslim students to further their education.

SOCIAL SERVICES

SOCIAL SERVICES

The Mission engages in various social services to support the poor, the aged, the destitute, the sick etc. These social services include;

PROVISION OF SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGES FOR BRILLIANT BUT NEEDY STUDENTS

The Mission almost every year offer support to Muslim students who lack the financial ability to get themselves educated, even though they may be brilliant.

PROVISION OF BORE HOLES

The Mission also provides boreholes for Muslims at the areas where access to portable water is a challenge for the inhabitants of those areas.

HAJJ SUPPORT SERVICE

The Mission occasionally supports deserving Muslims to embark on the hajj pilgrimage. Usually the support comes from some individuals within the Mission.

MEDICAL SUPPORT

The Mission supports the medical services of some Muslims who may be sick but lack the ability to seek proper medical support.

VISITATION TO PRISONS AND OTHER REHABILITATION CENTERS

The Mission, occasionally, visits the prisons, hospitals and orphanages to engage in da’wa and sometimes to offer them some support. Items usually donated include i.e. clothing, toiletries, food items etc.
